Career Readiness Program

Our 15-week Career Readiness Program empowers high school students to explore potential career paths and develop essential skills for future success. Using the acclaimed "What Color Is Your Parachute? For Teens" (4th Edition) by Carol Christen, students will embark on a journey of self-discovery, identifying their abilities, skills, talents, and interests while strengthening reading, writing, and research skills.

Program Objectives:

  • Self-Awareness: Determine individual self-management skills, abilities, and transferable skills.

  • Career Exploration: Identify potential career paths and occupations that align with student interests.

  • Educational Planning: Understand the educational, skills, training, and/or certification requirements for desired careers.

  • Goal Setting: Create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for effective career planning.

Program Activities:

  • Holland Code Assessment: Discover personality and work style preferences through the Holland Code.

  • Career Research: Conduct in-depth research on various career paths and occupations.

  • Career Interest Mapping: Chart and visualize career path interests.

  • High School Goal Setting: Develop academic goals that support future career aspirations.

  • Informational Interviews: Conduct interviews with professionals in fields of interest.

  • Resume Writing: Craft professional resumes to showcase skills and experience.

  • Mock Interviews: Participate in one-on-one mock interviews with experienced tutors for valuable interview practice
